What are grabs in snowboarding?

Grabs turn a jump into a stylish trick. You pull your board up with your knees and grab it with one hand at the nose, tail, or edge. The easiest grabs for beginners are the Indy (back hand on the toe edge) and the Nose Grab (front hand on the board tip).
It is important to jump safely before attempting grabs. We first practice the motion without air, on the ground or trampoline. The goal is a smooth sequence: pop, pull the board, grab, release, and land.
Grabs are not mandatory, but they improve body tension and control in the air. They also show your style. The looser and more natural you do it, the better it looks. We help you execute your first grab at the right moment.
