Slope spins, or surface spins, are tricks where you rotate 180° or 360° on flat terrain with the board. You do not jump, instead rotate on the ground. The technique includes, to ride slightly on the flat base, minimal edge, rotate the upper body, pull the board with your feet. These spins require balance, rotation, and body awareness. They are perfect to practice timing for jumps. Often, start with a 180, land fakie, then rotate back. Slope spins are ideal for beginners, as they develop control without leaving the ground. Mastering these rotations provides a strong foundation for future 180° or 360° spins in the park.
