What do I learn in the Rope Team Coaching course?

The three-day course at Susten Pass trains all core tasks of leading a rope team: route finding on glaciers and ridges, rope handling, short-roping, protecting your partner and tour planning with map and compass. Crevasse rescue is part of the programme as well. The mountain guide coaches you throughout with feedback and corrections instead of simply walking ahead. On day three, you lead the rope team up the Sustenhorn (3,503 m) under your own responsibility, with the guide stepping in only when necessary.
