What is an ollie on skis?

Topics

The ollie comes from snowboarding, but you can do it on skis too. You need to crouch slightly, shift your weight to the ski tails, explosively extend upward, and lift off the ground. The ski tips rise first, followed by your whole body.

It is important to slightly pull your knees up after takeoff and bend them again on landing to absorb the impact. The ollie is a fundamental movement, essential for later jumping over small obstacles or kickers. In the course, we show you how to time the takeoff correctly and maintain balance in the air. Once you’ve mastered the ollie, progressing to air tricks becomes much easier.
