In switch riding, the tips of your skis point backward, so you descend the slope riding backward. To do this safely, look over your shoulder, bend your knees slightly, and keep your weight centered on both skis. Your gaze is crucial because riding backward changes how you perceive the terrain. We start practicing on flat sections, step by step, without pressure.
Switch riding is an important freestyle foundation. Many tricks end with a backward landing or start with a switch approach. Once you feel confident riding switch, you can easily jump 180° or 360° and land or take off switch. In the course, we focus on posture, stability, and gaze direction. Riding switch introduces new movements and is also a lot of fun.
