Quantitative metrics of a team event. Can the benefits of a team event be measured?
Quantitative indicators of a team event
Can the benefits of a team event be measured, and is that important?
As in other areas of business, some key performance indicators (KPIs), the so-called "hard facts," of a company or team event are easier to quantitatively evaluate than others. Experience shows that KPIs are typically defined where something is relatively easy to measure. This leads us to neglect the supposedly more difficult-to-measure factors, the so-called "soft facts," and to rely on the easier-to-determine KPIs for our evaluation. In the case of a team event, these would be, for example, employee satisfaction or adherence to the budget.
The so-called “soft facts” (e.g. image, mood, de-/motivation, support/resistance) are difficult to evaluate quantitatively. They must be sensed, experienced, witnessed. Yet they are no less important to success. Where can these factors best be detected? We believe this happens, for example, when your employees must prove themselves and work together in unfamiliar outdoor activities. Our event activities offer you and your team a relaxed setting to get to know each other better, identify weak spots, and draw positive conclusions.
Our events can trigger emotions in your employees that initiate a long-lasting development process. It is very possible that you will see your team in a new light, that they will find new ways of communicating and collaborating, or that you’ll discover hidden talents—gifts that could prove valuable to you as a leader and to the entire team. You might also recognize teams that work particularly well together, which you can then strategically support or even recombine when back in the office. Without pressure or direct intent, our event can spark a positive team-building process.
With an OUTDOOR team excursion, you’re also showing your employees appreciation* and thanking them for their commitment to the company. Recognition we all deeply value and need to thrive—recognition that unleashes energy and productivity, whose impact may be hard to measure but remains an essential part of everyday teamwork.
We at the OUTDOOR Event Team love our job because our efforts allow us to create unforgettable outdoor moments for many companies—moments that may not be easily translated into data, but that absolutely offer emotional value.
Our alternative, high-quality metrics for you and your team might be: experiencing joy and fun, strengthening collaboration, improving team dynamics, opening new paths of communication, anchoring company culture, enjoying life, taking on new challenges, learning something new, supporting team-building processes, stepping out of the comfort zone, and receiving recognition.
*The term recognition is also used synonymously with acceptance, praise, or respect. Mutual recognition is considered necessary for any kind of coexistence.
