Itinerary

Meeting points
The day begins with a meeting at the OUTDOOR Shop & Café in Grindelwald. After a brief equipment check, we dive straight into the basics: reviewing knots, securing, and understanding why every move matters. Then comes the practical part, starting with self-rescue. To pull yourself out of a crevasse, you need to know how to move your body efficiently. You will learn to work your way up using ascenders or Prusik loops. The next step: companion rescue. A partner has fallen, and now it is all about clean technique. You set up a pulley system, use redirects, and learn to assess force ratios correctly. This course equips you with the tools to act effectively in a real glacier environment. Since the course doesn't take place directly on the glacier, all techniques can be practiced intensively and under optimal conditions; on rock, in snow, or indoors. The weather doesn't matter here, because in an emergency, only one thing counts: skill, not luck. In the afternoon, the learned techniques are reviewed again before the day ends with a brief feedback session. Then it is time to head home and keep training.

Weather info

General weather info

Weather can influence any tour, and a clear decision is often only possible on the day itself. We review conditions carefully and remain within our safety limits, and bad weather alone does not mean we have to stop.

Make sure we can reach you with current contact information in case your booking changes. Silence from us means your tour is still planned or the final call is not yet made. If we need to cancel, you can rebook, choose another activity, or get a full refund.
