Overview

Recommended for: Anyone who trades comfort for the view.

A short ascent, vast glaciated terrain, and the rarefied air of high altitude: the Breithorn is the perfect introduction to the world of the 4,000-metre peaks.

The Breithorn is an ideal first 4,000m summit for ski tourers. Starting from the Klein Matterhorn, you set off amid an immense glacier landscape. A moderately steep climb leads you to the summit, before the long ski descent down to Zermatt begins. A day trip in the high mountains with an incomparable panorama.

Arrival

After meeting in Zermatt, we take the cable car to the Klein Matterhorn. Here, we are already surrounded by the impressive world of 4000m peaks.

Ascent
2 - 3 hr

We start by crossing the Breithorn plateau. The thin air is quickly noticeable, so we move at a relaxed pace. The uptrack to the summit ridge is technically easy but challenging due to the altitude.

Summit

At the highest point, we are rewarded with a spectacular panoramic view: Monte Rosa, Matterhorn, Weisshorn: the giants of the Alps within reach.

Descent
1 - 2 hr

After a short break, the long ski descent follows. First, we ski back across the plateau, then continue on the piste down to the valley in Zermatt. A tour with a short ascent and an even longer descent comes to an end.

General weather info

Weather can influence any tour, and a clear decision is often only possible on the day itself. We review conditions carefully and remain within our safety limits, and bad weather alone does not mean we have to stop.

Make sure we can reach you with current contact information in case your booking changes. Silence from us means your tour is still planned or the final call is not yet made. If we need to cancel, you can rebook, choose another activity, or get a full refund.
