Overview

Recommended for: Anyone who trades comfort for the view.

Sun on your face, an exciting climb to the summit, a breathtaking panorama – then the long descent through the finest snow begins.

The Schwarzhorn offers ideal spring snow conditions and a panorama from Eiger to Wetterhorn. After the ascent in the morning sun, a long descent to Grindelwald follows. If there is still powder snow on the north side, we certainly take advantage of it. Technically straightforward, but with a rewarding descent: perfect for an enjoyable ski tour.

Arrival

After taking the cable car to Grindelwald First and a chairlift ride to Oberjoch, the day begins with an initial descent to Schilt.

Ascent
2 - 3 hrs

Here we put on the skins and start the ascent, first gently, then steeper towards the summit. The morning sun warms the snow as we gain altitude at a steady pace. Some kick turns challenge the technique, but the panorama rewards every step. At the shoulder of the Schwarzhorn, we leave our skis and hike to the summit on foot.

Summit

The summit panorama is absolutely unique: Right in front of us stand the Wetterhorn, Schreckhorn, and Eiger in all their glory, but we can also see the Mittelland and Jura: a summit view of the highest order. We enjoy a break at this extraordinary spot before hiking back down to our skis.

Descent
2 hrs

Back at our skis, the highlight begins: the long descent back to the valley. We usually find perfect spring snow, making skiing almost effortless. If conditions are not optimal on the south side, we switch to the north side and look for the last powder snow fields. The tour ends in Grindelwald, with tired legs but a big smile on your face.

General weather info

Weather can influence any tour, and a clear decision is often only possible on the day itself. We review conditions carefully and remain within our safety limits, and bad weather alone does not mean we have to stop.

Make sure we can reach you with current contact information in case your booking changes. Silence from us means your tour is still planned or the final call is not yet made. If we need to cancel, you can rebook, choose another activity, or get a full refund.
