Photos and Video: Keeping Your Adrenaline Alive Forever

Imagine this: You are plummeting from 13,000 feet. The wind is roaring, your heart is pounding like a drum, and the Swiss Alps are rushing toward you. It is the most intense minute of your life. But what happens when the adrenaline fades and you're back on solid ground?

Exactly—you want the proof. You want to see that moment again.

I often hear people ask before the jump, "Do I really need the video? Is it worth the extra cost?" Speaking as a friend who sees this every day: Yes, you do. And yes, it is worth every cent.

A tandem skydive is a massive rush that is over faster than you think. In freefall, your brain often switches to autopilot because it’s processing so much at once. The details—the look on your face at the exit, the insane mountain backdrop, that huge grin when the parachute opens—tend to blur in your memory. Photos and videos are the only way to hit "replay" on the adventure of a lifetime.

Why You Shouldn't Skip the Footage

  • The Memory Keeper: The footage preserves the adrenaline. Years from now, when you watch that video, you’ll feel that tingle in your stomach all over again.
  • Sharing the Rush: Try explaining to your friends what falling at 120 mph feels like. It’s hard. Show them the video, and they get it instantly.
  • The Proof: This is for you. On a gray Monday morning back at work, you can look at that photo and remind yourself: "I did that. I was brave."

Choosing Your Angle: Handcam or Camera Flyer?

Here in Interlaken, we offer two main ways to capture your jump. Both have their own vibe, depending on what matters most to you.

1. Handcam: Up Close and Personal

With the Handcam option, your tandem master wears a high-quality camera (usually a GoPro) on their wrist.

  • The Perspective: Think of this as the ultimate selfie. The camera is close to your face. It captures every emotion—the nervous anticipation at the door, the scream during the exit, and the pure joy in freefall.
  • The Big Plus: Your guide can keep filming even after the parachute opens. You can talk to the camera, comment on the view of the lakes, or just cheer while you spiral down gently. It’s also the more budget-friendly option (starting around CHF 140).

2. Camera Flyer: The Hollywood Cut

This is the full cinematic experience. A third person—a professional camera flyer—jumps out of the plane with you.

  • The Perspective: The flyer moves around you, sometimes above, sometimes below. They capture you in the landscape. You see yourself and your instructor as tiny figures against the massive backdrop of the Eiger, Mönch, and Jungfrau.
  • The Big Plus: The angles are spectacular. The exit shot, where you tumble out of the plane, looks incredibly dramatic from the outside.
  • The Catch: The camera flyer has to open their own parachute separately and usually lands before you, so they typically can't film your canopy ride (starts around CHF 200).

My Local Tip: If your budget allows, go for the Combo Package. You get the intimate close-ups of the Handcam AND the epic wide shots from the flyer. It’s the full movie-star treatment.

How to Get the Best Shots

You don't need to be a model to look great falling through the sky (though looking a little windblown is part of the charm!). Here are a few tips from the pros:

  • Look at the Lens: Your tandem master will show you where the camera is. Try to keep your chin up and look into the lens. It looks better in photos and actually helps keep your body position stable.
  • Let It All Out: Don't try to look "cool." Scream, laugh, stick your tongue out. The best photos are the ones with real, raw emotion. A stiff poker face looks weird at 120 mph!
  • Watch Your Hands: Listen to your instructor about where to put your hands. If you wave them wildly in front of your face, you might block the shot.
  • Decide Early: Let us know what you want when you book or when you check in. Once we are in the plane, it’s too late to call a camera flyer!

Capture the Moment

Let’s face it, it’s not like you jump out of a plane over the Swiss Alps every day, is it? Don’t miss out on capturing this incredible experience!

Safety and Your Own Camera

I know, I know—you have a great GoPro and you want to bring it. But there is a strict rule in skydiving: No personal cameras.

This isn't because we want to sell you ours. It's 100% about safety. At 120 mph, a loose camera becomes a dangerous projectile. Lines can get tangled in mounts, or the camera can slip from your hands. Our instructors are trained to handle cameras safely while managing the jump. Trust the pros on this one—they do it every day.

The Verdict

A skydive without a video is like going to a concert with earplugs: you were there, but you missed half the experience.

These photos and videos are the perfect souvenir from your trip to the Alps. They keep the memory sharp and let you relive the adventure whenever you need a boost. Make the investment—I promise, in ten years, you won’t regret the money, but you would regret not having that video.
