On February 6, 2023, the members of the Grindelwald Mountain Guides Association celebrated the 125th anniversary of the association's founding meeting.

30 people gathered to listen to exciting stories from the past and to exchange ideas while enjoying a fine aperitif. Marco Bomio and Walter Egger had delved into the history of the Grindelwald Mountain Guides Association and guided the evening. Between the various contributions, there was plenty of time for food, drink, and a chat here and there. It was a sociable evening in memory of our ancestors who founded the Grindelwald Mountain Guides Association on February 6, 1898.

In addition to the historical anecdotes, photo and film documents from the past were shown, and the minutes book from the 1898 founding meeting was also on display. Finally, William Marti and Ruedi Bhend presented the engraved Bhend ice axe, which they sent on its journey that evening.

The ice axe accompanies the members of the Grindelwald Mountain Guides Association throughout their anniversary year on guest tours, travels, and private adventures. We are already looking forward to what stories the axe will have to tell at the end of the anniversary year.
