Overview

Recommended for: Anyone looking for the mountain beyond the postcard.

Between Fallbodenseeli, the Eiger North Face, and the glacier, a contrast emerges that moves you and opens new perspectives on the Alps.

A day hike in the UNESCO World Heritage Jungfrau-Aletsch, where we visit the famous Eiger North Face, cool our feet in the Fallbodenseeli, and climb the moraine of the Eigergletscher. Imposing views of the surrounding mountain world with its peaks and glaciers leave us in awe. At the old Mittellegi Hut, we delve into mountaineering stories.

Itinerary

Meeting points
After meeting in Grindelwald, we take the train to the Grindelwald Terminal, where we transfer to the Eiger Express. With the new 3S cable car, we glide comfortably up to the Eigergletscher. Once at the top, we need to get our bearings – steep rock faces, barren glaciers, and green alpine meadows await us. Eiger, Mönch, and Jungfrau rise proudly before us. The Eigergletscher train station is an interesting story in itself. Soon we set off and hike past the mountain station of the Eiger Express to the Wart. From here, we have a fantastic view of the Eiger North Face. The hiking guide/mountain guide has many interesting facts about the Eiger North Face and its ascents to share. Can you spot the Eiger window? We continue our path and reach the Obere Salzegg to the Fallbodenseeli – a good place to talk about winter tourism. Our hike takes us past the old Mittellegi Hut and on to the Loucherflue, where we enter the UNESCO World Heritage Jungfrau-Aletsch. We climb back up to the Eigergletscher train station over the large moraine of the Eigergletscher. An impressive landscape shaped by the wild glaciers of these steep north faces.

Weather info

General weather info

Weather can influence any tour, and a clear decision is often only possible on the day itself. We review conditions carefully and remain within our safety limits, and bad weather alone does not mean we have to stop.

Make sure we can reach you with current contact information in case your booking changes. Silence from us means your tour is still planned or the final call is not yet made. If we need to cancel, you can rebook, choose another activity, or get a full refund.
