Approach
1.5 - 2 hrs

The tour starts in Grindelwald, where after a brief equipment check, we take the train to Alpiglen. From there, we follow the Eiger Trail to the turnoff towards the Glacier Gorge. The path steadily climbs, leading through meadows and scree fields, requiring increasing concentration. At about 1,750 m above sea level, we leave the hiking trail and continue up a narrow track.

Via Ferrata
1.5 hrs

The start of the via ferrata requires good sure-footedness – there's no cable yet. We carefully place each step, feeling our way over rocks ever higher. In a narrow gorge, the secured section begins. We climb along cables, pull ourselves up rock steps, and tackle a steep section with the help of the mountain guide. Afterward, we cross easier rocky terrain and reach the Ostegg Hut.

Ostegg Hut

The hut sits on a flat meadow with a wide view over Grindelwald and the Bernese Alps. After a well-deserved break and a snack from our backpack, we start the return journey.

Descent

The route takes us back the same way – climbing, hiking, full of impressions from an alpine tour that will stay with us for a long time.

Weather info

General weather info

Weather can influence any tour, and a clear decision is often only possible on the day itself. We review conditions carefully and remain within our safety limits, and bad weather alone does not mean we have to stop.

Make sure we can reach you with current contact information in case your booking changes. Silence from us means your tour is still planned or the final call is not yet made. If we need to cancel, you can rebook, choose another activity, or get a full refund.
