Ropes Park Interlaken or Rigi: Which Park Suits You?
Two ropes parks, both by OUTDOOR, both with equipment and guides, both CHF 45 for adults. And still, they're fundamentally different. Not better or worse, just different. The question isn't whether you want to go to a ropes park, but which one fits your day.
Interlaken: The Big One in the Forest
Ropes Park Interlaken sits in a dense patch of forest on the edge of Interlaken, between the Unspunnen meadow and the Heimwehfluh. From Interlaken West train station, you're there in 15 minutes on foot. By car: paid parking directly on site.
14 courses, 160 climbing elements, platforms up to 23 metres. The range is what defines this park. You can start with an easy course and work your way up through several difficulty levels. Or go straight for the harder routes once you've understood the safety system.
The park feels like climbing in a forest because it is climbing in a forest. Living trees, resin in the air, birdsong. When you're up high, you catch Eiger, Mönch and Jungfrau through the leaves.
For families with small children, the Snowli Kids Course is the argument: ground level, from age 2, no safety system needed. Regular courses start at 110 cm body height, lower than any other OUTDOOR ropes park.
Duration: 2.5 to 3 hours. Compact, easy to plan. Ideal if you want to fit the ropes park into a day with other activities.
Rigi: The Panorama at the Foot of the Queen
Ropes Park Rigi is near Küssnacht am Rigi, tucked into a quiet forest at the foot of the mountain. Address: Alpenhof 1, 6403 Küssnacht am Rigi. Paid parking on site.
9 routes, 4 kilometres total length. Fewer courses than Interlaken, but each route is longer and more generously laid out. The park feels more spacious, less packed, more room between elements.
What makes Rigi special is the combination of forest and views. You climb between trees with Lake Lucerne and the Central Swiss Alps in your sight line. The 155-metre zip line is the highlight: you glide through the treetops with the lake below. The 20-metre climbing snake spirals upward and rewards you at the top with wind in your face and a pretty good feeling.
For families, Rigi offers packages from CHF 67 (1 adult + 1 child). No Snowli course, but kids' courses start from 120 cm. Right next to the park is the Alpenhof restaurant for a warm meal.
Duration: 3 to 6 hours. Many stay for half a day or longer. This is a park you take your time with.
