Overview

Recommended for: Anyone who trades comfort for the view.

A 4000-meter peak for beginners: Experience the ascent to the Allalinhorn with breathtaking glacier views.

The Allalinhorn is the perfect introduction to the world of 4000-meter peaks. After the train ride to Mittelallalin, our route takes us over the glacier to the summit in about 2.5 hours. The view of the surrounding mountains and valleys is magnificent. The noticeably thinner air, the crunch of crampons, and the glaciated landscape make the tour an unforgettable experience.

Arrival

Early in the morning, we meet at the bus terminal in Saas-Fee. After a brief introduction, we walk together to the train station. The first stage takes us by cable car and the Metro Alpin to 3,457 meters above sea level at Mittelallalin. Here, we strap on our crampons, tie into the rope, and prepare for the ascent.

Ascent
2 - 3 hrs

The Allalinhorn rises directly in front of us, and the path over the glacier leads us upward at a moderate pace. Step by step, we acclimate to the altitude, feeling the firm snow with each step. The air gets thinner, the view expands: Dom, Weissmies, Monte Rosa – the surrounding peaks are within reach.

Summit

Happily, we reach the summit of the Allalinhorn at 4,027 meters above sea level. The distant view is spectacular. We take time for a snack from our backpacks, breathe in the mountain air, and enjoy the thrill of standing on a 4000-meter peak.

Descent
1 - 2 hrs

After a rest at the summit, we begin our descent along the same route. With focused steps, we return to Mittelallalin, where the train takes us back to the valley. A day full of mountain experiences comes to an end: tired legs, but many memories in our minds.

General weather info

Weather can influence any tour, and a clear decision is often only possible on the day itself. We review conditions carefully and remain within our safety limits, and bad weather alone does not mean we have to stop.

Make sure we can reach you with current contact information in case your booking changes. Silence from us means your tour is still planned or the final call is not yet made. If we need to cancel, you can rebook, choose another activity, or get a full refund.
