Overview

Recommended for: Anyone who trades comfort for the view.

A challenging high-altitude tour to the highest peak entirely in Switzerland.

The Dom (4,545 m a.s.l.) is the highest mountain located entirely on Swiss soil. The tour leads from Randa via the Dom Hut to a technically and physically demanding summit. Experience glacier crossings, easy climbing sections, and an impressive panoramic view of the surrounding Valais 4000-meter peaks.

Itinerary

Meeting points
Day1
Day 1: Ascent to the Dom Hut
The ascent begins from Randa through a sparse larch forest. The path leads us to the Europa Hut, where we take a short break. Then it gets steeper: rope-secured sections test our surefootedness. The last stretch is a mix of rock and scree until we finally reach the Dom Hut at 2,940 m a.s.l. Here, it's time to rest, gather strength, and enjoy the view of the mighty peaks of the Mischabel group.

Day 2: Summit Tour to the Dom 4,545 m a.s.l.
We set off early and ascend via the Festi Glacier. With crampons on, the trail leads us to the rock barrier of the Festijoch, which we climb over. Then we enter the Hobärggletscher. In a wide arc, we bypass steep drops, followed by the steep final ascent. Step by step, we approach the summit. And then we've made it: 4,545 m a.s.l.! All around, an endless landscape of peaks, the view extends to the Western Alps. After a break, we descend the same route.

General weather info

Weather can influence any tour, and a clear decision is often only possible on the day itself. We review conditions carefully and remain within our safety limits, and bad weather alone does not mean we have to stop.

Make sure we can reach you with current contact information in case your booking changes. Silence from us means your tour is still planned or the final call is not yet made. If we need to cancel, you can rebook, choose another activity, or get a full refund.
