Itinerary

Meeting points
Day1
Day 1: Approach to Aar Bivouac 2,733 m (8,967 ft)
The long but varied ascent to Aar Bivouac requires perseverance. From Grimsel Hospiz, a trail leads along Grimselsee before reaching the Unteraar Glacier. Passing the Lauteraar Hut, the route continues onto the Finsteraar Glacier. Just before the glacier breaks, the route heads northwest onto the Strahlegg Glacier. The final stretch over moraine debris demands concentration once more. The Aar Bivouac lies solitary amidst an impressive glacier landscape. We spend the night here to set off early the next morning.

Day 2: Summit Tour to Lauteraarhorn 4,042 m (13,261 ft)
We start before dawn. The route gradually steepens over the Strahlegg Glacier. The south face couloir requires precise climbing over snow and rock before reaching the southeast ridge. Now follows the most beautiful climbing of the tour. The ridge elegantly ascends to the summit, where the effort is rewarded with breathtaking views. But the tour isn't over yet. We descend through the Schraubengang to the southwest ridge and continue to Strahlegg Pass. After many meters of descent, we reach the Schreckhorn Hut, where we enjoy a refreshing drink.

Day 3: Descent to Grindelwald
After two intense days, we take it easier today. We descend first over rock steps with ladders and iron rungs on the blue-white marked path. The body feels the elevation gain of the past days, but the magnificent mountain world compensates for the effort. Gradually, the vegetation becomes denser, and the valley comes closer. At the Bäregg Hut, we take one last break before tackling the final meters to the Pfingstegg cable car. From here, it's a relaxed journey back to Grindelwald.
