Itinerary

Meeting points
Day1
Day 1: Ascent to Schreckhorn Hut
The path to the Schreckhorn Hut is an experience in itself: rock walls, glaciers, and alpine expanses accompany us every step of the way. From the top station of the Pfingstegg cable car, we first leisurely ascend to the Bäregg mountain house before continuing over steep paths, ladders, and along impressive slopes. The view of the Grindelwald Glacier is breathtaking. After about four hours, we reach the Schreckhorn Hut – a perfect base for the coming days.

Day 2: Climbing Strahlegghorn 3,461 m a.s.l.
After an early breakfast, we set off. First, we cross the glacier, then ascend over moraines and snowfields to the Strahlegg Pass. The final ridge requires concentration but offers fantastic climbing with more solid rock than expected at this altitude. The summit view is stunning: Schreckhorn, Lauteraarhorn, Finsteraarhorn, and Fiescherhorn form a magnificent panorama. We descend the same way back to the Schreckhorn Hut.

Day3
Day 3: Traverse of Gwächtenhorn 3,164 m a.s.l.
Before sunrise, we leave the Schreckhorn Hut and follow old paths below the Kleine Schreckhorn. After varied climbing, we reach the Gwächtenjoch. Here, the terrain changes abruptly: instead of dark rocks, we enter an icy glacier world. The ascent to Gwächtenhorn is short but rewarding – the view stretches from Wetterhorn to Eiger. We descend over the glacier to the Gleckstein Hut, where we end the day on the terrace.

Day4
Day 4: Climbing Rosenhorn 3,689 m a.s.l.
With light gear, we set off. The path first gently ascends to Beesi Bärgli, then continues to the glacier. In a steady rhythm, we climb over snowfields to the Rosenegg. The last meters over the airy summit ridge are a delight – easy climbing with a magnificent view. From the summit, we look at the mighty Schreckhorn North Face, the Gauli region, and far into the Haslital. During the summit break, we look back on our route from the previous day before descending to the Gleckstein Hut and further into the valley.
