Arrival

The meeting point for the tour is at the Hotel Steingletscher. After a brief introduction, we obtain the permit and drive with a few cars to the Umpol parking lot. Here we gear up for the via ferrata.

Via Ferrata
3 - 3.5 hrs

The first section starts directly from the parking lot; a well-secured, initially easy ascent. Step by step, we gain altitude. The route becomes increasingly challenging. Shortly before halfway, we cross a hiking trail – a possible exit point. We continue, the rock wall becomes steeper. A small overhang demands concentration and technique before we climb a steep slab with few footholds. After the exit, the path leads over scree and rocky terrain to the Tierbergli Hut at 2,798 m above sea level.

Descent
1.5 - 2 hrs

A perfect place to rest on the terrace and enjoy the panorama. Then we descend via the mountain path to the Umpol parking lot. One last look back – an unforgettable day in a high alpine setting.
